Ball Valve

Ball Valve

A ball valve is a type of shut-off valve used to manage the flow of liquids, gases, and vapors within a piping system. It operates by rotating a ball with a central bore that either permits or blocks flow. The ball is positioned between two seats and connected to an operating mechanism via a shaft. When the bore's cross-section is aligned perpendicularly to the flow direction, the valve blocks the fluid. Conversely, when the bore is aligned with the flow, the fluid passes through, with the flow rate determined by the exposed area of the bore.

Application of ball valve

Petrochemical industry: used to transport all kinds of petroleum and chemical raw materials and products, such as crude oil, refined oil, natural gas, acid, alkali and other corrosive or viscous media. Because the ball valve can quickly cut off or connect the pipeline, it can quickly close the valve in an emergency to prevent material leakage and ensure production safety.

Natural gas transmission: it is widely used in long-distance natural gas pipelines and urban natural gas pipeline networks. It can realize accurate control of natural gas flow and play a key role in pipeline distribution and pressure regulation. At the same time, it has good sealing performance, which can effectively prevent natural gas leakage and reduce energy loss and potential safety hazards.

Water supply and drainage system: In urban water supply and drainage projects and industrial circulating water systems, ball valves are used to control the on-off of water flow and adjust the flow. For example, in the pipeline system of waterworks, the water flow in different pipelines can be conveniently distributed and controlled through the ball valve; In the sewage treatment plant, it can be used to open and close the sewage pipeline, which is convenient for equipment maintenance and overhaul.

Power industry: In power stations such as thermal power generation and hydropower generation, ball valves are used to control the flow of various media, such as steam, water and oil. In the steam pipeline, the ball valve can quickly cut off the steam supply to ensure the safety of the equipment during start-up or failure; In the cooling water pipeline, it is used to adjust the cooling water quantity and ensure the normal operating temperature of the equipment.

Food and beverage industry: Because the material of ball valve usually meets the food hygiene standards, and its structure is simple and easy to clean, it is used to control the transportation of liquid materials such as water, syrup and fruit juice in the food and beverage production process. For example, in the beverage filling production line, the flow of each ingredient can be accurately controlled through the ball valve to ensure the consistency of product quality.

Shipbuilding: It is applied to the fuel system, seawater cooling system and ballast water system of ships. In the fuel system, the ball valve is used to control the delivery and distribution of fuel and ensure the normal operation of the ship engine. In the seawater cooling system, the seawater supply can be quickly cut off, which is convenient for equipment maintenance.

Metallurgical industry: used to control various high-temperature and high-pressure media, such as blast furnace gas, oxygen and nitrogen, in the smelting process of steel and nonferrous metals. Its characteristics of high temperature and high pressure resistance can meet the harsh requirements of metallurgical production environment.
